Work in Progress: Monaco GP

Work in Progress:  Monaco GP

Today I've started a new cycle in my blog. I’d like to show the way of creating a drawing step by step. Firs one will be the Monaco GP one. Beside the Porsche RWB drawing this was my hardest and most detailed drawing I’ve ever done. This was also the first drawing where I used more than 2-3 colors. The sketch took me almoust a week to finish , the whole drawing took another 8-10 days. Real pain in the ass ;) I was trying to catch all details that I can see on the photo that I used as a reference and this piece is done more in comics style as I used 005 size ink pen to outline all that small stuff.  As I mentioned on Deviantart in this drawing you can see 270 people (some of them are just color dots), 23 cars ( Formula cars, cranes, service cars), 22 commercials and one Brasil flag and two naked ladies... ;)

All the trees are done with 5-6 layers of 3 different green tones and cool grey markers.

Only the track surface left

The oryginal piece was sold to the collector from US.

Monaco GP Facts:
The Monaco Grand Prix has been held in Monaco since 1929. It takes six weeks to set up the circuit and three weeks to remove it. Ayrton Senna holds the record for the most wins on the track, coming first 6 times. The constructor with the most wins is Vodafone McLaren Mercedes.

Drivers must change gear a staggering 54 times per lap at Monaco, meaning more than 4,200 changes over the course of the race. Just 42 percent of the lap is spent at full throttle, with the longest period of full-throttle running a mere eight seconds.

Finished piece

Some history..
